The Journey

John 8:2-11

Scripture for January 31

We may not want to admit it, but there are times we judge others. Perhaps someone does something wrong and we think badly of the person. Or we may base our judgment on a generalization that everyone should do things the way we do them. And if someone does something differently than we do, he or she must be wrong. We can judge people in our families, in our churches and even in the news. It can take only a second of our time to see that someone is wrong and judge that person in our minds. It can be something as simple as “I’d never do it that way” to “well that was dumb.” So, what do we do? We begin to notice how we judge others; how often we think that someone should do it our way. We take a look at ourselves because as we judge others, we are not coming from a place of grace. And Jesus taught us what grace is all about.

Well God, what if I am RIGHT, is that still judging someone? Oh, this is really difficult and I need Your help. Amen.
