Trinity Talk...A Weekly Newsletter

Trinity Talk
August 21, 2011

Thanks to Everyone!
On Saturday, we served 175 families which represented 469 people through the SEMO Food Pantry!  Twenty-nine folks from Trinity served our guests, made new friends, worked hard and had lots of laughs!  We are so grateful for the idea to have a couple of shopping carts and to have the “drive” through so groceries were picked up near the church entrance which made it easier for everyone.

Swimming Anyone?
Join us this Wednesday, August 24, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for a church wide family event at Crowley Ridge Country Club.  We’ll have a GREAT time enjoying the water or just watching.  Invite your friends and bring some snacks to share.  See you Wednesday!

Coming this Fall to Trinity
Mark your calendars for September 28 for Trinity’s new line up of small group experiences.  We’ll have supper from 5:15-6:15 p.m., JOY worship service at 6:00 p.m. and then small groups at 6:30 p.m.  Dale Williams is Trinity’s new small group coordinator and is looking for small group leaders.   “Not me,” you say?  Well, just like last fall, small group leaders choose their own topic.  We had a variety of topics including National Parks, exercise and even Miscellaneous and each leader added a devotional aspect to the discussion.  It might be a hobby or other interest that you have.  Please take some time to think and pray about how you can lead a small group to help others grow in their relationship with God and each other.  Thanks, Dale, for saying “yes” to this new ministry…and thank you for thinking about how you can serve God through this small group ministry.  We will also have small groups for our children and youth.  Childcare will be available for our babies and toddlers.

Leadership Seminar Opportunity
What does it mean to be a leader in the church?  We hear about servant ministry but what does that mean?  Here is your opportunity to learn about leadership from successful leaders and it’s almost next door!  Heartland Leadership is at Sikeston First on Friday, September 30, October 28 and November 18.  It will be an important event for learning and team building to be the most effective we can be in serving Jesus Christ.  See Pastor Susan for more information.

Food Ministry Item for August
The food item for the Assembly of God food pantry is peanut butter.  Even though we will have the SEMO Food Bank at Trinity, we want to continue to support the Assembly of God food pantry, too.  Thank you for your generosity over these past 4 years to offer food to those folks who need a little help…

From Rosemary Walker:
I would like to say a big thank you to all of my Trinity Church family for the many, many prayers that I received while rehabbing at Cypress Point.  So many beautiful cards brightened my day; I don't think a day passed that I did not receive at least one card.  Also, the phone calls, gifts, and visits were much appreciated.  I am now at home and doing better; I walk with a walker and have help with some things.  I'm hoping another month will make a big difference--perhaps I can be back in church by then.  I've read that "God didn't promise days without pain, but he did promise strength for the day."  I think that strength came to me through all of you.  Blessings to all of you.

Dinner for Eight
Dinner for Eight is a time of food, fun and conversation, does it get any better than that?  Here’s  how it works…

There will be eight adults in each group.  One person or couple from the group will be chosen to host the first Dinner for Eight meal.  The meal can be in your home or in the church dining room.  The host will make arrangements for the first meal, date, times, etc. with the other group members.  The host will provide the main course and the others will provide a side dish.  Then at that first meal, another group member will offer a time for the next meal together, usually once a month.  That's all there is to it and it is a WONDERFUL way to get to know each other and just have fun.  Please let Pastor Susan know if you would like to be part of Dinner for Eight...it will begin later in September or October...
