The Journey

Luke 15:11-32

Scripture for January 17

We can be focused on things sometimes, can’t we? Especially if it’s something we really want to do. We can get so focused that we don’t see the things that might just get us into a bit or a lot of trouble. It’s kind of like having blinders on that keep us from really seeing all that’s going on around us. We don’t have the full picture, only what we want to see. Then something happens and we kind of wake up and see the full picture and realize we’re not where we want to be. But no matter where we find ourselves, we have the opportunity to turn around and walk towards home. And God sees us from a long way off and…runs to meet us.

Dear God,

Even though I hate to admit it, I sometimes think more about where I want to go and less about where you want me to go. Give me those nudges or even irritate me into realizing You want me to come closer to You. Amen.
