Third Sunday in Advent

Thanks to everyone who helped  in any way with the Hanging of the Greens Service last Sunday morning, especially those who provided the musical numbers and the reader, Earl Metcalf.  Thanks also to William Chasteen who saw to it that the tree was up and decorated.  Don’t know who all helped with the decorating, but thanks.  It is beautiful.

NEXT SUNDAY – Trinity Christmas Dinner
Our annual Christmas Dinner will be next Sunday at noon in the church dining room.  The meat (ham and turkey) will be furnished; please bring a side dish, salad or dessert to share.  Come and enjoy this holiday festivity with your church family.

Blue Christmas
Christmas is not always a time of joy for everyone, especially if there have been losses during the year or even years past.  Losses could be the death of family members, divorce, unemployment and other difficult experiences.  A Blue Christmas worship service is a quieter, more somber service that honors the losses and those who travel that journey.  Join us on Tuesday, December 20 at 7:00 pm.

Children and Youth Christmas Program
Trinity kids and youth will sing wonderful songs of the Christmas season on Sunday evening, December 18 at 6:00 p.m.  Cissy Williams is directing the program with lots and lots of elves helping with props, costumes, etc.  You will not want to miss this evening.  Light refreshments and conversation will be enjoyed after the program in the dining room.  There will be dress rehearsal for the children's program on Thursday evening, December 15, at 6:00.  All children need to be there.   They will also practice on December 18 during Sunday School and Sunday Club.

United Methodist Women Christmas Party
The UMW will host their annual Christmas party at Hickory Log in Dexter on December 14 at 11:00 a.m.  It’s a fun time of great food and conversation.  See Frances Moore or Pastor Susan for more information.  We hope you can join us!

TUMC Girls Christmas Party
The TUMC Girls Christmas party is December 14 and all ladies of the church and friends are invited.  The catered meal is $14.  Please pay Jan Aslin or Pat Snider by Dec. 7.  Questions, see Cathy Chasteen or Annette Lumsden.  Remember the special gift exchange after dinner, a Christmas ornament or Christmas item of $10.00.   Don’t forget to wrap it or “bag it” extravagantly!

Remember That 10% Challenge?
Remember the challenge two weeks ago to tithe 10% of what you spend on Christmas and give it to a ministry of your choice?  Perhaps Stoddard County Gospel Mission, Stoddard County Children’s Home, Heifer Project, our food ministry, our diaper or DFS Clothes Closet or other ministries?  Just a reminder that we will write our amount (no name of course) and there will be a box in the hallway at our Christmas Day service and we will give the total during the worship service.  It’s just another way to offer gifts to Jesus for His birthday!

Thanks to all  who brought Christmas Cards for the shut ins and military.  The cards will be mailed or delivered next week by members of the UMW.

The Women’s Club of Bloomfield, a service organization, delivered 35 trays of goodies to shut ins and the elderly.  Several of Trinity’s members received a tray.  Thanks to the women in this group.  Our own Doris Leggett is one of its members.

Food Ministry Items for December
The food ministry items for the Assembly of God Food Pantry are soup – or anything for making soup. (The Christmas items have already been picked up.)
